An appeal for outline planning permission has been allowed in Waunarlwydd, Swansea for the demolition of an existing dwelling and erection of three pairs of semi-detached dwellings and a detached dwelling.

The hearing took place on 4 July following an adjournment from the original date of 30th May. The adjournment was necessary after it became apparent that the Local Authority had not correctly notified local residents of the orginal hearing date.

Inbetween the original two hearing dates our Highway Consultants, Stilwell Partnership LLP, provided additional Highways evidence to the Local Authority and they duly removed the Highways reason for refusal before the reconvened hearing in July.

The Inspector considered the main issue to be the impact of the proposal on the character of the area. In reaching the final decision the Inspector found that development arranged at right angles to roads is not uncommon within the area. The Inspector also found that although the development would result in smaller gardens than those found in the surrounding area, given their lack of exposure would have little impact on the character of the area.
